It is typically easiest and most cost effective to replace your current water heater with a water heater that uses the same fuel. However, it is possible in many cases to change your water heater fuel source to accommodate a different water heater type. Often times there are long-term savings realized by switching to a water heater that uses a more efficient fuel type.
